The medical/ surgical care and attention. Pleasantness of reception

Apart from the operation – excellent.  Being treated as an individual not as Mr X on a conveyor belt.  Also the cleanliness and checking of information and after the operation having a nurse called Angel! What could be better

Being told to arrive by 7.45 am but not being taken to theatre until almost 4pm.  I realise someone has to be last but with no food etc it was a very long time

Absolutely – a very good experience if one is unfortunate enough to need an operation

Good surgical and nursing care

Slightly less impressed with hurry to discharge me the next morning, due to an unscheduled o/n stay

Everything went very smoothly.  Staff were incredibly considerate of E....... age and went out of their way to make her feel at ease.  In particular out paediatric nurse was excellent, as were the lovely anaesthetists.

Hospital – lovely! Cheerful staff.  Op went well.  Good on phone after.

I asked right questions after op re what to do once home, but my brain had turned to soup after the anaesthetic!!  So really needed a far more comprehensive list of does and don’ts, what to expect, what is normal and what isn’t, so once home alone I would have felt more confident re post op care.  More focus on rehydration after would also have helped.  And more dressings to take home

 The surgeons expertise was outstanding

Heating, the heating was broken in the anaesthetic room and it was extremely cold.  Some of the nursing staff were inattentive to detail.  Still in 2012 most of the nurses did not use the hand sanitising gel!

Welcoming - put me at ease

The speed with which I was seen for an initial consultation and then the operation

There was a bit of confusion over when I could be discharged.  But it doesn’t matter.  AND the parking arrangements at the hospital are hopeless.

Reception and room were fine.  Pre and post op excellent.  I felt totally cared for.

My husband was offered a sandwich and we were billed for it but had paid in cash which was refunded – but was surprised you kept my card detail to make the £4 charge.

 

An excellent Professional service.  Informative.  Strong team.

Care – Day of admission don’t make wait between admission and theatre too long!  It can be anxious time for patient.

Professional and friendly.  No problems with admin or in fact anything.  Whole atmosphere of confidence and positivity about operation, and aftercare.

I was made to feel at ease and I was seen to on time.  Everything was explained clearly.  The service from start to finish was 5 star

Excellent communication on a level the patient could understand.  Efficiency and flexibility in administrative arrangements.

I cannot find fault with the service.  The single follow up call I made to the Spire to make a check on medication was dealt with very well by the duty nurse.

The friendly approach puts one at ease immediately, and gives the patient total confidence.  The care I received throughout was excellent.  “What did we do well?” – the answer – everything!

The options were explained clearly at the initial consultation and a good rapport was established.  The surgery went well and I was confident that a good recovery would be achieved.  Overall, I was very impressed with the experience and I feel well and recovered.

Nothing really. Parking problem at hospital as so crowded but appreciate that not in your control!
