TUNBRIDGE WELLS: A hospital in the town has become the first in the south east to perform a groundbreaking operation to combat severe acid reflux.
Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Fordcombe Road is only the fourth hospital in the UK to offer the procedure, which inserts a metallic band aroubnd the oesophagus just above the stomach via keyhole surgery to eliminate the symptoms.
The operation was performed by Nicholas Boyle on 32-year-old Hartfield resident Duncan Warmeant..
