Nicholas Boyle BM, MS, FRCS

Rosemary underwent insertion of the LINX® Reflux Management System on 28th November 2012 for symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux this is her condensed story.

My name is Rosemary and I am 63yrs of age.  l was very fortunate to have a LINX Reflux operation back in November 2012.
My recovery was amazing my food intake was very quickly back to normal.  I Found small amounts of food little and often worked for me.  In the early stages bread, hard fruits and dry meat was very difficult to eat and it caused me to hiccup.  l found l had to chew my food a lot, eat slowly with plenty of water to help the food go down.  However my eating continued to improve very quickly and I have educated myself to chew and eat my food slowly, which I believe aids a speedy recovery.  I didn't at any time refuse certain foods - I persisted with all foods, as I felt it would help the LINX to work quickly for me.
My symptoms   before my operation had been ongoing for a number of years with heartburn,  reflux, and generally eating caused an awful lot of discomfort .
My sleep was regularly disturbed, having to sit up in bed to sleep to relieve my symptoms  particularly reflux.  I would also get a lot of sickness, sore throats and earache particularly when my heartburn was at its worse.
Since having this operation all of my symptoms have gone, the only foods that affect me are hard skin fruit which l now peel.
In the past 6 months I have never looked back, it’s the best operation for reflux and I would be more than happy to talk to anybody who is thinking of having the operation.
